Jigna Vora highlights the urgent need to treat mental health as seriously as physical fitness, drawing from her personal journey with meditation and mindfulness.
She urges the entertainment industry to normalise counselling and open dialogue, especially in the age of social media.
Former Bigg Boss 17 contestant Jigna Vora, also a tarot card reader, astrologer, and writer emphasises the growing need to prioritise mental well-being, especially in today’s high-pressure, image-driven world.
“Mental health is of utmost importance. We often focus a lot on physical health while neglecting our mental well-being,” says Jigna. A strong advocate for mindfulness, she shares that meditation has been a key pillar in her personal journey. “I’ve been meditating for the last 14 years and also attend Vipassana twice a year. It has helped me tremendously,” she adds.
Jigna believes that acceptance and open communication are essential for maintaining emotional balance. “First of all, we have to accept the situations around us. Conversations are very important. We often ignore the state of our mind. Across all sectors, the focus remains on fitness, looks, and appearance but what about mental health? How will one cope with stress?” she asks.
Jigna also stresses the need for structured support systems within the entertainment industry. She suggests, “There should be regular counselling sessions. The corporate world now has in-house counselling departments for employees similar practices should be introduced in our industry too.”
Reflecting on the pressures of the digital age, Jigna admits, “Social media plays a very important role, but somewhere, it also adds more pressure.”
She concludes with a message to public figures, urging them to speak up. “Celebrities and public figures should talk more about mental health because people see them as role models. If we speak openly, it will encourage others to seek help and prioritise their well-being,” she concludes.
