Last week, actress Aalisha Panwar stepped into the role of Tara in Dangal TV’s supernatural romance drama Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, taking over from Gauri Chitranshi, who had to exit the show due to health issues. Stepping into an established character is never easy, and for Aalisha, it’s both a challenge and an opportunity.
Reflecting on the experience of replacing another actress, Aalisha Panwar shares, “It’s definitely challenging because the audience is already familiar with the character and the previous actor’s portrayal. That naturally brings a certain level of expectation.”
Aalisha Panwar acknowledges the delicate task of maintaining consistency while introducing her own interpretation. “As an actor, you not only have to match that energy but also bring your own interpretation to it,” she explains, and adds, “It’s a fine balance between respecting the work that’s been done before and finding your own space within the role. The pressure is real, but it’s also an exciting
opportunity to push your creative boundaries.”
Aalisha Panwar emphasizes that she’s taking a thoughtful approach to the transition. She’s been closely studying the character’s journey so far to ensure that the essence of Tara remains intact. She says, “I’ve definitely observed the previous portrayal closely to understand the character’s body language, voice modulation, and emotional graph. It’s important to maintain continuity so that the audience still feels connected.”
However, Aalisha Panwar is not limiting herself to imitation. The Ishq Mein Marjawan actress is keen on adding her own depth and perspective to the role. “At the same time, I’m also adding my own layers to the role — a certain emotional depth, different reactions, maybe even subtle shifts in tone. “I see it as a blend of both worlds — staying rooted in the character’s essence while giving it a new perspective through my own lens,” she ends the conversation.
