Composer Amaal Mallik took to social media today as he shared a heartfelt post about being clinically depressed and revealed how he has decided to take a step away from his family to maintain his peace. It was a long post talking about his pain, his relationship with his parents and more.
However, Amaal Mallik has now taken the Instagram post down and shared a story on social media where he wrote,
“Thank you for the love and support it truly means a lot, but 1 would request the media portals to not harass my family… Please don’t sensationalise & give negative headlines to my vulnerability… It’s a request. It’s taken a lot for me to open up & it is a very tough time for me… I will always love my family but for now, from afar. Nothing changes between us brothers, Armaan and I are one and nothing can come between us. Love & Peace.”
For those who haven’t read the post, Amaal Mallik spoke about his journey in the industry so far and how he has created 126 melodies in the last decade. He added how despite everything he has done, he felt undermined when it comes to his family and therefore, that affected his mental health as well as self-worth.
He then further added how his parents’ actions have in turn contributed to the growing distance between him and his brother Armaan, who is also a musician.

While he spoke more about his journey and how he succeeded in moving beyond being someone’s nephew or son, the emotional struggle has taken a toll on him.
While talking about his decision to maintain distance from his family, he did highlight how this is a well-thought-out decision and a step towards healing.
His now-deleted post, meanwhile, did receive a lot of support from fans as well as many in the industry.
For the unversed, Amaal Mallik started his journey at a rather young age, and he composer duo Daboo Mallik and Jyothi Mallik’s son.
