Anupam Bhattacharya on International Youth Day: Discipline, Not Distraction, Will Shape India’s Future

On International Youth Day, actor Anupam Bhattacharya emphasises the power of India’s youth to shape the nation’s future, if they can overcome digital distractions and stay focused.

He calls for stronger mentorship, skill-building programs, and value-based education to help guide the next generation.

Marking International Youth Day, actor Anupam Bhattacharya shared his reflections on the crucial role young people play in building a stronger, more progressive India.

“The potential for a nation to grow and flourish depends a lot on the youth of a nation,” Anupam Bhattacharya said, adding, “Their capacity to work, coupled with their young and dynamic ideas, is what drives a nation to be recognised globally.”

However, Anupam Bhattacharya also cautioned against the growing distractions faced by today’s youth. “Without proper guidance, the youth can easily be misled. The flood of misinformation and an overdose of social media are among the biggest threats to their focus and mental well-being,” he warned.

He stressed that education remains vital and called for dedicated programmes to help young people use social media wisely, stay grounded, and maintain clarity of purpose.

When asked what the youth of India need most today, Anupam Bhattacharya was direct: direction and discipline. He believes that with the right mentorship, skills training, and value-based learning, young people can channel their potential into meaningful progress.

As role models, he pointed to achievers like Neeraj Chopra and D. Gukesh. He said, “They have shown how precious your time as a youth is, focus on your goals and you can achieve greatness.”

Reflecting on the changing landscape, Anupam Bhattacharya added, “There has been some stagnation due to the overdose of social media and political influence. We need to break free from these shackles in order to thrive as a nation.”
