Despite suffering from four fractured ribs, actress Shiwani Chakraborty powered through intense shoot schedule for Anupamaa. With unwavering support from her team, she found strength, healing, and a deeper sense of family on set.
A few months ago, despite being in excruciating pain, Shiwani Chakraborty continued working through grueling shoot schedules, unaware that her persistent discomfort was actually the result of fractured ribs. Caught up in the demanding routine of shooting Anupamaa, she initially dismissed the pain. It wasn’t until her breathing became painful and wearing costumes felt unbearable that she decided to get a scan. The diagnosis shocked her four fractured ribs, three on the right and one on the left.

and focus on nutrition. But another anxiety loomed — how would the production team of Anupamaa, a new show she had just signed, respond to her situation?
Shiwani Chakraborty shared, “I was quite scared. Will I not be retained? I didn’t want the production to suffer because I know it takes more than usual to establish a new family that I was part of.”
To her surprise and deep relief, the production house stood by her with unwavering support. “The first call I made was to production head Vivek Jain ji, and he told me not to worry — that they would manage, and I should take ample rest between shots,” Shiwani Chakraborty recounted gratefully, adding, “That’s when I realised why everyone calls DKP a family. They truly are.”
Wearing a rib belt during shoot wasn’t easy, but the creative team ensured her comfort. Her co-actors were equally considerate. Shiwani Chakraborty shared, “For scenes where I was required to sit, they would help me and remind me to have water at frequent intervals,” she said, deeply touched.
Though dancing had to take a backseat, her spirit never broke. Shiwani Chakraborty added, “There were moments I felt I had reached a dead end, but a little patience and strength help you sail through the most seemingly challenging times.”
