Shivam Khajuria reflects on the emotional shift as Anupamaa production relocates to the Pandya Store set after a fire, admitting they miss the original set but are motivated by the familiar team.
Early Monday, a major fire damaged the Anupamaa set at Mumbai’s Film City, briefly halting production. The team swiftly shifted filming to the nearby Pandya Store set—just a five-minute move away.
Shivam Khajuria, known for his role as Prem, shared his thoughts on adjusting to the new filming environment following the abrupt set change. He says, “Shooting hamaari Pandya Store ke set par shuru hui hai. Everything is normal for us and we’re just doing our job. It’s a new place, so it feels like a fresh start for us again. Aur kuchh nahi hai. It’s the same people, so there’s no major change. Bas thoda bahut lag raha hai ki we miss our set and that feeling of belongingness.”
When questioned about moving back to their original set after it’s restored, Shivam Khajuria responds,
“Definitely, once it’s rebuilt, we’ll move back there. Matlab, abhi tak toh hum apne set ko miss kar rahe hain—but this is also a great set with lots of positivity. The people are the same and that’s what matters. Locations change, things happen. What keeps it going is the same team. We all want to move on from whatever happened.”
Curious about how quickly the Anupamaa environment was recreated at Pandya Store, Shivam Khajuria adds, “Mujhe pata nahi exactly when the unit resumed after the incident because my shoot started just yesterday. It’s been four days since the fire. The ambiance is obviously different, but the essence of the set still shows through. I’ve only seen the Kothari House set and the dance academy set-up by Rahi (played by Adrija Roy). I haven’t seen Anupamaa ji’s or Shah residence sets, as we’re filming separately.”
Despite the upheaval, Shivam Khajuria and the crew are determined to maintain the show’s spirit while eagerly anticipating when they can return home.
