Satya Tiwari on Anupamaa’s Success and the Power of Television Storytelling
Satya Tiwari, who is seen as Gautam in Deepa Shahi and Rajan Shahi’s Anupama, which is produced under their banner Shahi Production Pvt. Ltd., speaks on the structured and fast-paced format of TV.
He said, “Being spontaneous is necessary on TV. But if things are well organized and people working on sets consider human error a possibility, then it becomes very easygoing.”

The Fast-Paced Nature of TV Sets
“And the best example I could provide is Anupamaa and the DKP team,” Satya Tiwari added.
Anupamaa has been running successfully for almost six years now, and he feels longevity doesn’t limit risk-taking in storytelling. Satya Tiwari said, “Producers and TV channels have always experimented with genre and content, and that is why we have so much good content that speaks of various social issues.”
Audience Loyalty Doesn’t Limit Creativity
He doesn’t believe that audience loyalty makes it harder to experiment with bold narratives. Satya Tiwari said, “If this were true, Anupamaa would not sustain.”
Asked about protecting his individuality while being part of such a legacy-driven show, Satya Tiwari said, “It’s an actor’s job to create details and infuse them into the character, and when that happens, all goes well, and the writers and makers have never kept any character’s journey without an arc.”
TV vs OTT: Why Television Still Stands Strong
While concluding, Satya Tiwari shared that in today’s OTT-driven space, shows like Anupamaa stay relevant and competitive because the audience is different. “OTT mostly is TV content with a higher budget. There are very few OTT shows that leave a mark because there are so many platforms with so much content.
Many ideas are from TV, and one of the points to observe is that the audience varies for OTT and TV, so TV is and will always be relevant and competitive,” Satya Tiwari ended.
