Salman Khan takes Tanya Mittal and Neelam Giri to task on Bigg Boss 19 for body shaming Ashnoor Kaur, calling out their hypocrisy and cruelty.
The moment sparks an important conversation on respect, empathy, and why such behavior must never be normalised.
Bigg Boss 19 is set for a fiery Weekend Ka Vaar as host Salman Khan finally addresses one of the most-discussed and condemned moments of the season, the bodyshaming incident targeting Ashnoor Kaur. What began as a string of demeaning and mocking remarks by Tanya Mittal and Neelam Giri has sparked nationwide outrage, with netizens condemning the contestants for normalising such toxic behavior on national television.
Tanya, who often introduces herself as a motivational speaker advocating for women’s strength, and Neelam, who has previously taken offense to being labeled a naachnewali or Bhojpuri, were slammed for making demeaning remarks about Ashnoor’s weight and appearance. Netizens also criticized Amaal Mallik, Farrhana Bhatt, and Shehbaz Badesha for joining in, but the primary backlash remained aimed at Tanya and Neelam for their insensitivity.
In the latest promo, Salman can be seen confronting them head-on. “Tanya aur Neelam, aap bataaiye kya raay hai aapki Ashnoor ko lekar,” (Tanya and Neelam, tell us what your opinion about Ashnoor is) he asks sternly.
Trying to deflect, Neelam replies, “Achhi lag rahi hai” (She looks good), while Tanya adds, “Bilkul princess jaisi lag rahi hai” (She looks just like a princess), prompting Salman’s sarcastic “Achha…” in return.
But he doesn’t stop there. Turning serious, he continues, “Tanya aur Neelam, aap dono ne mil kar kitne saare words bole hain Ashnoor ke liye, inke wazan ke baare mein. Aur aise words jo main bol bhi nahi sakta. Tanya, aap toh badi sanskaari ho na, toh ye sab itni asaani se kaise bolti jaati ho?”
(“Tanya and Neelam, both of you have used so many words for Ashnoor, about her weight, words that I can’t even repeat here. Tanya, you call yourself so cultured, so how could you say such things so easily?”)
He then asks, “Neelam, aapko apni chugli par bohot garv hai, ab kyu nahi ho raha?”
(“Neelam, you were so proud of your gossip, why aren’t you proud now?”)
Addressing Tanya directly, he continues, “You called her haathi (elephant), dinosaur, moti (fat), phugge jaise shakal wali (balloon-faced). Who gave you the right to say such things?”
A visibly stunned Ashnoor, shaken yet composed, finally responds, “Shame on you, Tanya.”
Salman’s intervention has been lauded by viewers, who insist that body shaming is not just cruel, it’s an ugly reflection of internalised bias. In a world already obsessed with appearances, Bigg Boss 19 just delivered a much-needed reality check.
