Former Bollywood actor and social activist Somy Ali may soon return to the screen with the U.S. reality show Rise and Fall.
Known for her NGO work, Somy’s possible entry reflects a full-circle moment in her journey from fame to philanthropy.
Once known for her compelling presence in Bollywood films, Somy Ali now garners attention for her influential activism as the founder of No More Tears, a Florida-based non-profit dedicated to supporting victims of abuse and trafficking.
Though she has remained active professionally, she has stayed away from the camera for some time but that may be about to change, as she has reportedly been approached for the U.S.-based reality show Rise and Fall.
Born and raised in Pakistan, Somy moved to India at 16, driven by dreams of Bollywood and a personal journey fueled by admiration for a movie star.
Despite having no connections in the industry, she managed to carve a place for herself, starring in several Hindi films in the ’90s, including Anth, Teesra Kaun, Chupp, Aao Pyaar Karen, Krishan Avtaar, and Yaar Gaddar.
Though her film career was brief, it was memorable. Her performances were praised for their sincerity and presence. After leaving Bollywood, Somy returned to the U.S., where she pursued degrees in psychology and journalism.
In 2007, she founded No More Tears, dedicating her life to rescuing and rehabilitating survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking. Under her leadership, the NGO has helped over 50,000 people.
A woman of resilience, compassion, and conviction, Somy seems like a natural fit for a show like Rise and Fall, which mirrors the highs and lows she’s experienced and the hope she’s brought to countless lives. If she accepts the offer, her participation will surely bring depth, inspiration, and authenticity to the screen.
