Puru Chhiber reflects on the lasting power of daily soaps and explains why Udne Ki Aasha has resonated strongly with audiences nationwide.
He credits television’s emotional reach and the added accessibility of OTT for the show’s continued success.
In a time when television content competes with countless digital platforms, actor Puru Chhiber believes that strong storytelling still wins hearts and Udne Ki Aasha is proof of it. Playing the layered and impactful character of Tejas in Rahul Kumar Tewary and Rolling Tales Production’s show, Purru reflects on why daily soaps continue to remain deeply rooted in Indian households and how the medium is evolving without losing its charm.
Talking about the universal reach of television, Puru shares, “I think it’s all connected. Everyone in the world and in India, watches television, especially in the villages. Even today, most people still follow TV.” For him, television’s bond with its audience runs deeper than convenience; it is emotional, cultural, and part of everyday life in many homes.
He believes that the growth of OTT hasn’t replaced television, it has amplified it. “Now that television content is also available on OTT platforms like Hotstar, where you can watch all the TV series, it has become even more accessible,” he explains. The digital extension, he says, has strengthened TV’s reach and brought shows like Udne Ki Aasha closer to younger and more diverse viewers.
Reflecting on the response the show has received, Puru says, “Daily soaps like our show, after a very long time, have struck the right chord with the audience. People are emotionally connected with us.” According to him, the relatability of the characters and the honesty in the storytelling have allowed the audience to build a strong emotional bond with the show.
With his impactful performance as Tejas and his thoughtful understanding of how television continues to evolve, Puru Chhiber remains an important part of Udne Ki Aasha’s growing connection with viewers across the country.
