Despite facing online trolling for her dance videos, Deepika Singh remains unfazed, emphasizing self-expression and personal growth over external judgment.
For actress Deepika Singh, Odissi dance isn’t just an art form — it’s a way of life. She describes it as a lifestyle that seamlessly integrates into her daily routine. Having been involved with Odissi since 2014, during her time on Diya Aur Baati Hum, she shares,
“Dancing has become a lifestyle for me because I have been associated with Odissi dancing since 2014 while I was shooting for Diya Aur Baati Hum. I would wake up early back then, and now, it has become a lifestyle for me. Once anything becomes that, you don’t need to manage time. Your body and mind work accordingly.”
Despite her demanding schedule, the actress strives to maintain her fitness and stamina. Deepika Singh explains, “I may not take daily classes now, but I make sure to take one on my day off, which is a couple of days in a month. I maintain my body and fitness, keeping in mind that if I need to dance for two hours, I shouldn’t lose my stamina. Working in a daily soap requires a lot of effort; we often have to stand for 6-7 hours during shoots.”
Deepika Singh actively engages with her audience by sharing dance reels on social media. While many fans appreciate her efforts, she also faces criticism. Addressing this, she emphasizes her focus on self-validation. She shares, “I don’t deal with anyone. I deal with only myself. I feel I am worth it, and only I know about myself. Those who don’t know me can’t judge me. Negative comments and negative people don’t exist for me. I only look at myself and my people. I only work on myself.”
She further adds that she doesn’t consider social media as a platform for perfection. Deepika Singh says, “I don’t think social media is a dance reality show where you have to post your best dance reels. Everybody knows I am an actor first and I am doing dance. If they don’t understand how it is to work for 12 hours for one show and then handle everything and make your followers happy by posting a dancing reel, I know my intention.”
Deepika Singh views her dance reels as a gesture of positivity towards her fans. She explains, “This is my way of saying hello to my fans and followers by posting reels, to show that I am happy and spreading joy to their lives as well. If they don’t understand my intention, I don’t make an effort to make them. I make reels for those who understand my intention.”
