Dipshikkha Nagppal reflects on her fulfilling yet brief journey as Goldie Bua in Megha Barsenge, valuing meaningful roles over screen presence. Despite an open-ended exit, she stands firm on her belief: she’d rather leave a show than appear without purpose.
Dipshikkha Nagppal thoroughly enjoyed playing the vibrant and spirited Goldie Bua in Megha Barsenge. So much so that the actress who exited the show a few months ago extended her heartfelt wishes to the makers and the team as the show recently shifted its time slot from 7:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
Reflecting on her experience, she opens up about the highs and lows of her journey and why, despite the character’s open-ended exit, she feels her chapter in the show has come to a natural close.
Recalling her entry into the show, Dipshikkha Nagppal shares, “My introduction as Goldie Bua was superb. It was powerful and promising. But soon after, my track became stagnant, and I was getting quite irritated because I wasn’t doing much. I understand that’s the nature of television, but I don’t like being idle.
Suddenly, my track resurfaced with full force and marked a beautiful exit. The end was written and executed brilliantly. I got some truly memorable scenes to perform, and I loved every moment.”
Though the door hasn’t been officially closed on her character, the actress is realistic about her return. Dipshikkha Nagppal says, “Yes, the makers have left my track open-ended, but I feel there’s nothing left to explore as Goldie Bua. I don’t enjoy standing in the frame without purpose.
The production house and channel understood my point of view. It’s ultimately a TRP-driven space — whatever works, stays. When my track was revived, they asked if I was available, and I happily said yes. I truly enjoyed the role and am thrilled it earned me a nomination for the Supporting Actress Popular Award. It’s a win-win.”
Although it’s been a few months since her exit from Megha Barsenge, Dipshikkha Nagppal has maintained a strong bond with the cast, especially with lead actress Neha Rana. Reminiscing about the camaraderie they shared, Dipshikkha Nagppal says, “We have a WhatsApp group called the ‘Khurana group’ that includes Neha and a few of my other co-actors. We used to have lunch together, share laughs, and grew really close during the shoot. We even promised to meet again on my last day, but that reunion hasn’t happened yet.”
The delay, she explains, was due to her getting busy with another project almost immediately. “Around the same time, I started working on Ishq Jabariya, so I was juggling both shows. It got hectic, and the timing didn’t work out. But I really hope we can catch up soon — whenever everyone’s schedules align,” Dipshikkha Nagppal ends the conversation with a smile.
