Celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi opens up about the deeply emotional fan encounters that have stayed with him, from a diner who couldn’t stop crying after meeting him to people across India who found joy, comfort, and even healing through his shows.

Celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is currently winning hearts on Laughter Chefs: Entertainment Unlimited, says the biggest reward of his journey isn’t fame or applause, but the emotional bond he shares with viewers whose lives his work has touched. Sharing some of the fan interactions that moved him deeply, he recalls a recent moment at his restaurant, Kari Giri Karan Place.
He says, “On my way in, I bumped into a couple who were genuinely overjoyed to meet me. The lady especially was thrilled, she clicked pictures with me.” But the moment quickly turned emotional. He recalls, “As I walked inside, another gentleman approached me and said, ‘Harpal ji, your fan girl is crying.’ I went to meet her, hug her out of respect, and she just couldn’t stop crying because it was a great moment for her to see me in person. She had just watched my podcast with Bharti Singh ji and heard about my life journey and struggles.”
He adds, “Throughout her dining experience, she kept crying emotionally, and I would go console her every time. These moments bring tears to my eyes too. They are overwhelming, and I feel they are blessings God sends through our fans.”
Another incident that stays with him came from Odisha. He shares, “received a note from a young woman in Balasore who shared that her differently abled brother instantly smiles and becomes excited whenever he watches me on television. Whenever I do ‘namak shamak daal dete hain,’ he starts singing and jumping. She thanked me because my little jingle makes him smile.”
Harpal also cherishes a message from Indore. He says, “A gentleman, about 78 or maybe 82, wrote to me that all his life he never entered the kitchen. After watching me on TV, he said, ‘Harpal ji, it is a pleasure watching you. You made cooking simple. Now I cook for my wife.’ What a beautiful feeling, to give back like that.”
He receives countless messages like these, often from unexpected places. “Some viewers write to me from hospitals, saying the show works like therapy for them. It’s overwhelming, and I feel genuinely blessed to receive such heartfelt love from so many around the globe.” he shares.
