Actress Harleen Kaur Rekhi is winning hearts with her powerful portrayal of Sudha Mami in the hit TV show Binddii. Known for her elegance in divine and mythological roles, Harleen now takes on a character that blends warmth, drama, and subtle grey shades showcasing a new facet of her acting versatility.
In an exclusive chat, Harleen opened up about the in-depth preparation she did for the role.
“Of course, I prepared for at least two months,” she shared, adding, “We went through a two-week workshop, and then I researched the UP and Mathura dialect the lingo, the nuances. I sat with the writers, directors, and creative team to understand exactly what flavor they were aiming for.”
Becoming Sudha Mami each day is a process in itself. “It takes around 45 to 50 minutes just to get into character hair, makeup, costume, everything. It’s nearly an hour every day,” she revealed.
Her dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. “Recently, the kind words from my producer and the creatives made all the hard work feel incredibly rewarding. They said, ‘Sudha Mami is looking too good entertaining when needed, emotional where it matters and you’re doing it brilliantly.’ That meant a lot to me,” Harleen said with a smile.
Fans too are applauding her transformation. she shared, “One fan even called me the ‘Queen of Divine Roles’ and appreciated my performance in this grey-shaded character. It’s a big compliment because my goal has always been to be a versatile performer. Before proving it to the world, I want to prove it to myself.”
