I Was Typecast In Romantic Casanova Roles,” Says Hrishikesh Pandey Of CID Fame

Hrishikesh Pandey has always sought to challenge himself with different characters. In a candid conversation, he shares his desire to explore new genres, his views on typecasting in the industry, and what keeps his passion for acting alive. He believes romance is often reserved for younger actors, but he would love to portray a love story with depth and maturity.

Hrishikesh Pandey says, “I would love to play a romantic character now, with the maturity and experience I’ve gained over the years. Earlier, I did such roles, but I feel I can bring more depth to them now. Unfortunately, most romantic stories today focus on characters aged 16 to 25. I would love to do an intense, mature love story. Comedy is another genre I haven’t explored yet but would love to try.”

The actor acknowledges the industry’s tendency to stereotype performers based on their past roles. Hrishikesh Pandey says, “Once you play a certain kind of character, you start getting similar offers. Early on, I was cast in romantic Casanova-type roles, and I kept getting similar projects. I had to put in effort to break out of that mold by taking on different roles with new looks and character arcs. This needs to change, as actors need diverse opportunities to show their true range.”

For him, the ability to step into different characters is the most rewarding part of acting. Hrishikesh Pandey adds, “As an actor, the biggest advantage is getting to live multiple lives through my characters while still being myself in reality. Plus, I get paid for doing what I love! Many people work in jobs they don’t enjoy just to earn a living, but acting allows me to meet new people, explore different cities and countries. That’s what keeps me going.”
