Jamai No. 1 Actor Abhishek Malik: Balancing Neel’s Personal And Professional Contrasts Makes The Character Interesting

Abhishek Malik, who plays Neel in Jamai No. 1, is winning over viewers with his layered performance and charming presence. As the young CEO of Chotwani Vineyards, his character strikes a balance between corporate ambition and personal growth, making the role both dynamic and relatable.

Reflecting on the nuances of his character, Abhishek Malik shares, “Playing a CEO is a refreshing experience for me as an actor. Neel is someone who is extremely driven and composed in the boardroom, but when it comes to personal relationships, he’s still figuring things out. Balancing that duality is what makes the role so interesting.”

A key aspect of Neel’s character is his striking three-piece suit, which adds a sharp, polished element to his corporate persona. Abhishek Malik explains, “The styling for Neel has been done with a lot of precision. I love the sharp suits — they not only complement his professional stature but also instantly make me feel the part. When I walk onto set dressed like that, I automatically slip into Neel’s shoes.”

However, Neel’s persona is far from one-dimensional. Behind the suave exterior lies a man with a deeply emotional side. His evolving relationship with Riddhi, the show’s female lead, has brought out a more tender and vulnerable side of him. Abhishek Malik, who has previously been part of shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Kumkum Bhagya, and Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan, shares, “Neel started off being all about work and responsibilities. But with Riddhi (played by Simaran Kaur) entering his life, he’s started to feel again — he’s begun to smile, to care, and to let his guard down. That shift has been gradual and beautiful, and I love portraying that change.”

After a day of intense shooting, Abhishek Malik believes in unwinding to recharge for the next day. “I usually hit the gym after pack-up — it helps me release all the stress and get back into my own headspace. Sometimes I just listen to music or catch up on a good web series to disconnect from Neel’s world and reconnect with my own,” he says, highlighting the importance of personal time and relaxation.
