Kapil Nirmal: I Still Call Film Casting Directors, Hoping For A Response

Kapil Nirmal reflects on the difficult shift from TV to Bollywood, emphasizing how persistence and faith in destiny have kept him grounded.

The actor says he now aims to pursue roles that challenge and creatively fulfill him.

After making a mark on television with shows like Shakira: The End of Evil, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, Na Aana Is Des Laado, Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera, and Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, actor Kapil Nirmal set his sights on the big screen. But the shift from TV to films turned out to be far more challenging than he had anticipated.

He appeared in the John Abraham-starrer Vedaa (2024), a breakthrough moment that brought hope but it was quickly followed by a long period of silence, with no auditions or callbacks.

Now seen in Mangal Lakshmi, Kapil opens up about the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry, the struggles of breaking into Bollywood, and how his journey has been shaped by persistence, patience, and a deep trust in timing and destiny.

Reflecting on his career, he candidly admits that the shift from TV to films has been far from easy. He says, “Nothing is easy. It’s only because of television that I’m even having this conversation today. Moving from TV to films has always been difficult, but I always intended to make that shift gradually. Vedaa happened by the grace of God and my parents’ blessings.”

I Believe Have A Goal, Work Hard, And Leave The Rest To Destiny

However, things slowed down after the film’s release. “Post-release, everything went quiet. No auditions, no calls. Meeting a casting director is tough. Sometimes, being known from TV works against you,” he explains.

Despite his visibility, Kapil notes that newcomers often find it easier to land auditions than established TV actors. He says, “For three years, I was at home trying my best to get auditions and restart. But Mumbai’s cost of living forced me to take up a show. Then I took another break, and that’s when Vedaa happened again. So now, I believe have a goal, work hard, and leave the rest to destiny.”

Asked about what keeps him going, he stresses the importance of persistence. He shares, “What matters most is putting in your maximum effort everything else tends to fall into place when the time is right. I still call casting directors, hoping they respond. That effort and consistency matter.”

On whether talent alone gets you work, Kapil offers a realistic take. He notes, “Merit does matter, but it’s not the only factor. A lot of other things come into play when it comes to getting work.”

Looking ahead, Kapil hopes to take on strong, meaningful roles in both films and OTT. “I want to do films and web series that offer me roles important to the story ones that let me push myself creatively and feel truly satisfied with my work,” he concludes.
