Mahhi Vij, who recently returned to television as Kausar in COLORS’ Seher Hone Ko Hai, brings a fresh perspective to a story centred on a mother and daughter fighting for basic freedom and choice. Her character stands at the heart of the show’s emotional conflict, and Mahhi revealed that she approached the role with honesty rather than intense preparation.
Speaking about slipping into Kausar’s mindset, Mahhi shared that the mother–daughter bond in the show did not require rehearsed emotions. As a mother herself, she naturally understood Kausar’s instinct to protect her child from the hardships she has faced. She added that the fear and desperation of a mother are genuine feelings that do not need to be forced.
Mahhi further explained that instead of preparing to “act” like a mother, she focused on the internal conflicts Kausar carries. These include the exhaustion of fighting repeated battles, the guilt of not being able to give her daughter better opportunities, and the fleeting moments of strength she gathers to keep going. For her, portraying Kausar was less about external expression and more about understanding her quiet emotional struggle.
A Story Rooted In Choices & Restrictions
Set in the heart of Lucknow, Seher Hone Ko Hai follows Kausar’s mission to ensure her sixteen-year-old daughter receives the education and independence denied to her in her own youth. Her journey revolves around protecting her daughter from the cycle of limitations she has spent years trying to break.
However, her determination is challenged by Parvez, who is intent on marrying Seher into the influential Mufti family. His decisions create relentless pressure in Kausar’s life, intensifying the conflict between a mother fighting for her daughter’s future and a system determined to maintain control.
Mahid’s Entry Adds Another Layer To The Story
Amidst this tension stands Mahid, played by Parth Samthaan. Though he comes from a privileged background, he carries emotional burdens that influence his connection to the unfolding events. His presence adds another dimension to the story’s central conflict, intertwining the struggles and motivations of the characters.
