Manas Shah Talks About His Role In The Gujarati Film Shortcut Padyo Longcut

Actor Manas Shah is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Gujarati movie, Shortcut Padyo Longcut. Interestingly, his character in the film is also named Manas, but he clarified that their personalities are quite different.

Speaking about his role, he shared, “My character’s journey has two key aspects—his relationship with his parents and his love life. In the film, Manas tends to act immaturely, making decisions purely based on emotions, which isn’t always the right approach.”

Comparing it to his real life, he added, “Unlike my on-screen character, I am quite mature and never make impulsive decisions. But in the film, Manas often takes rash steps, leading to complications. However, one thing we have in common is our approach to love. Both in reel and real life, if I make a commitment to someone, I stand by it. I take responsibility for my partner’s happiness and always support them through every situation. So, while our personalities differ in many ways, our dedication to love is quite similar.”

Discussing the film’s title, Shortcut Padyo Longcut, which was shot across Ahmedabad, Jaisalmer, Serbia (Belgrade), and Dubai, Manas explained its meaning: “Sometimes, when we try to take a shortcut in life, we end up getting stuck and ultimately have to take the long route. The movie is based on this concept. The core message is that shortcuts often lead to bigger problems in the future.”

He further elaborated, “A long route might seem challenging initially, but it ultimately provides stability and success. While a shortcut might make success appear closer, in the long run, it often results in failure.”

For Manas, one of the most challenging scenes in the movie was when his character witnessed Alisha (mention her role) being tortured in jail. “The guilt of putting her in danger completely shatters him. His cheerful personality disappears, and he realises the gravity of his mistake. It was an intense scene, and the crew even appreciated my performance,” he said.

Another powerful moment in the film, he noted, was when Manas finally rescues Alisha and promises never to let anything come between them again.

Apart from Shortcut Padyo Longcut, Manas is also set to make his OTT debut with Burari Revisited, a series based on the infamous Burari murder case.

He explained, “Most adaptations of this case have focused only on the events leading up to the tragedy. However, this series goes beyond that—it explores what happened after the bodies were discovered. It delves into the investigation, questioning, legal proceedings, and final verdict, offering a fresh perspective. I play the role of a paranormal activist, and it was an incredible experience for me. By the time the series is released, the official streaming date will likely be announced.”

Meanwhile, he hinted at the possibility of working on another Gujarati film, which is expected to be shot in Birmingham.

“As for television, it was my first love and will always hold a special place in my heart. If a good TV project comes my way, I’ll definitely consider it. Otherwise, I’ll continue focusing on films. Whatever happens, I believe that God has the best plans for me,” he concluded.
