Moon Banerrjee: “Every Tattoo On My Body Is A Reminder Of Who I’ve Become”

Actress Moon Banerrjee opens up about her love for tattoos, each reflecting a deeply personal meaning. From a sacred mantra to her son’s name, her inked journey continues with plans for a new design soon.

Moon Banerrjee, who has been part of shows like Chashme Baddoor, Abhimaan, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Muskaan, Sasural Simar Ka 2, and Doree, is a big fan of getting inked. The actress already has three tattoos and says that each one holds a lot of significance for her.

“It was 17 years ago that I got inked for the first time. It was a mantra that I used to chant, and I thought it would be the best decision to inscribe it on my body. So, I got the mantra along with my favorite flower, the lotus,” Moon Banerrjee says.

Moon Banerrjee adds, “I feel our lives are like the lotus flower—we need the muck to bloom. That’s the significance. What I find most captivating about the lotus is its uncommon trait of flowering and forming seeds at the same time—a beautiful symbol of simultaneous growth and regeneration. My third tattoo is my son’s name in Bengali, which I got when he turned one.”

For Moon, tattoos are not just body art—they are deeply personal expressions of one’s beliefs, memories, and emotional milestones. “Each tattoo etched on my skin is a chapter from my life, silently narrating moments that shaped who I am. They remind me of who I was, who I’ve become, and the moments that shaped me,” Moon Banerrjee shares.

Talking about the process of getting inked, Moon Banerrjee says, “Well, it is painful, depending on which part of the body it’s on. Getting a tattoo over a bone is very painful, while the one I have at the nape of my neck was quite smooth.”

Tattoos, Moon Banerrjee believes, are a form of self-expression that stay with you, both physically and emotionally. The actress signs off by saying that she’ll be getting another tattoo soon!
