Pratik Gandhi Urges People To Watch Phule Before Forming Opinions Amid Film Delay

Every now and then, movies witness delays or get caught up in drama even before the release, therefore causing not just a postponement but also drama. This time around, Phule has been caught up in controversy, causing a delay from its original release of April 11. And amid all of that, Pratik Gandhi expressed his disappointment about the same since the film’s release was slated on the occasion of Jyotirao Phule’s 197th birth anniversary.

Pratik Gandhi in a recent conversation, made an appeal to the Brahmin community to first watch the film and then form an opinion. Meanwhile, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave a ‘U’ certificate to the film after multiple changes on April 7, including the removal of words like ‘Mang’, ‘Mahar’, and ‘Peshwai’, among other things. Interestingly, director Ananth Mahadevan complied with all those changes, too.

However, after objection from the Brahmin community, the film’s release has been postponed to April 25. Pratik Gandhi told PTI that he learned about the delay while he was away shooting and was sad about it. He added that he spoke to the team and, when he learned the reasons, he also mentioned that it was not something in their control.

Pratik Gandhi also went on to highlight how the primary reason for his disappointment was that it couldn’t release on the significant date that April 11 is, but then he came around and also said that he knows whatever happens, happens for the best.

Pratik Gandhi highlighted how, given the uproar around the movie and now that they’ve made necessary changes, April 25 just seems like a better release date for Phule. He also went on to give a message to the Brahmin community, and while he understands where they are coming from, he wishes for them to just watch the film, given that their current opinion is just from the trailer.

Meanwhile, organisations like Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj and Parshuram Aarthik Vikas Mahamandal have raised their concerns, and while director Mahadevan has met with representations, he did try and assure them that the movie is purely based on facts.
