Actor and poet Priya Malik believes life becomes easier once you start understanding yourself. Known for her strong presence on television and reality shows, Priya says her journey has been full of learning.
She started writing poetry at the age of 12 and has continued ever since. “I mostly write about love because emotions are something everyone connects with,” Priya Malik says. Her poems speak about memories, childhood, heartbreak and relationships — themes that connect strongly with young audiences.
Priya says her famous poem Looking for 1999 in 2019 was born from nostalgia. After returning from Australia, she realised how much she missed her old life in Dehradun. A simple Instagram post about eating food in a steel plate reminded people of their childhood, and the poem became widely loved.
Talking about fame, Priya Malik believes one should never complain about it. “At some point, you wished for this life. So you must respect it,” she says. She feels celebrities should always respect their fans because the audience gives them their identity.
On relationships, Priya Malik shares a clear thought. “Love should make you calm and confident. If it makes you angry or unhappy, it is not love,” she says. She believes real love helps you become a better person.
Priya Malik also speaks openly about second chances in life. “Love can happen again and again, but true connection teaches you who you are,” she adds.
Becoming a mother has changed her outlook completely. She says her son has made her more patient and emotionally strong. “Children teach you kindness without saying anything,” Priya Malik shares.
When asked about her son’s future, Priya says she will always support his choices. “Who he loves and when he loves is his decision,” Priya Malik says.
Today, Priya Malik continues to balance acting, poetry and motherhood while staying rooted to her values. “No matter where I go, I am still that girl from Dehradun with big dreams,” she signs off.
