Pushpa Impossible’s Indraxi Kanjilal: It’s Our Responsibility To Filter Content – Not The Creators’

Pushpa Impossible actress Indraxi Kanjilal talks about the importance of self-censorship in today’s content-saturated world.

She also opens up about setting personal boundaries as an actor and why viewers must take ownership of what they choose to consume.

Indraxi Kanjilal, currently seen as Prarthana in Pushpa Impossible, emphasizes the growing need for self-censorship in today’s digital age. With an overwhelming amount of content available at our fingertips, she believes individuals not creators must take responsibility for what they consume and share.

“Yes, self-censorship is very important,” Indraxi Kanjilal begins, adding, “For example, if you’re uncomfortable with certain types of content, or if you have kids at home and don’t want them exposed to it, then it’s your job to self-censor. Today, there’s a lot of material that may not be suitable for children or even some adults-and that’s completely okay. It’s completely your right to choose what you want to watch.”

Indraxi Kanjilal believes that rather than pushing for content bans, the focus should be on audiences making informed and intentional viewing decisions. She says, “We can’t keep saying, ‘This shouldn’t be allowed’ or ‘Why is this content even permitted?’ The truth is, some people enjoy that kind of content, while others don’t. Everyone’s comfort zone is different, and that’s completely okay..”

Indraxi Kanjilal l adds, “If you’re a parent and there’s inappropriate material around, it becomes your responsibility to block or filter it. These days, kids are exposed to over-sexualised songs and content all the time.

But it’s not the job of content creators to stop making it-they’ll do their job. We have to do ours.”

Indraxi Kanjilal also points out that platforms today offer tools to help users manage what they view. She points out that every OTT and social media platform now offers content control settings.

Self-censorship isn’t just important-it’s easy to practice. And I genuinely believe everyone should take it seriously.”
