Having seen Kennedy at the MAMI Film Festival, one would’ve thought that it’d receive accolades once it hit theatres. However, the Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone starrer has still not seen the light of day, and many are waiting to finally be able to see the movie in theatres.
Recently, director Anurag Kashyap revealed how he is finding it difficult to get a new show to come on OTT because a streaming platform rejected his idea, saying that Kennedy has still not been released.
While this is a topic that the team has spoken about earlier too, we reached out to actor Rahul Bhat and asked him what are his thoughts about this and well, he has quite the answer.
Rahul tells us, “Kennedy is a film that has travelled the world, received immense love, and remains very special to all of us who were part of it. As for its release, that’s something the producers would be in a better position to comment on. Hope it finds its way to the audience soon.”
For the unversed, Kennedy was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, however, it got help amid the financial woes at ZEE Studios.
Meanwhile, Kashyap has reportedly left Bollywood and settled in Bangalore, if reports are to be believed. In fact, in an interview, he also mentioned how he now wants to explore South films since there’s more creativity there and people are not after box office success only.
As for Kennedy, the movie revolves around an insomniac ex-cop, who is assumed to be dead for a very long time but is actually on the lookout for redemption. He tries to achieve that by operating secretly for the corrupt system.
The movie got rave reviews everywhere it was screened, and honestly, this is just a call to producers out there, to release the film in theatres ASAP! The film is a masterclass in acting as well as cinematography, purely because of how everything comes together in the end. Don’t miss out a chance to watch it whenever you get it!
