Romiit Raaj, who exited the popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in April after a nine-month stint, talks about its lasting impact on his career. From behind-the-scenes laughter to deep bonds with co-stars, he shares why the experience will always hold a special place in his heart.
Romiit Raaj, who has been part of popular television shows like Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann, Maayka, Adaalat, and Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si, has enjoyed a fulfilling journey on Indian television. Yet, if there’s one role that has truly etched itself into his heart—and arguably, into the hearts of the audience—it is his portrayal of Rohit Poddar in the iconic drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Though his character’s journey came to a close in April after a memorable nine-month run, the experience continues to resonate deeply with the actor.
Reflecting on his time with the long-running show, Romiit Raaj opens up about the irreplaceable bond he formed with the project. “I definitely miss being a part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” he says with evident emotion.
He adds, “It’s one of the most iconic and longest-running shows in Indian television, and just being a part of that legacy was an honour. What made it truly special for me was the atmosphere on set—there was a certain warmth, a sense of belonging, that’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it.”
For Romiit Raaj, the experience was more than just a professional milestone; it was a personal journey filled with moments that made each day unforgettable. He shares, “Even though it was work, it never felt like just a job. Every day brought new energy, new emotions, and a lot of learning. That bond you form with a show like this doesn’t fade with time.”
Beyond the script and scenes, it was the people and the energy on set that he recalls most fondly. He says, “I miss the discipline and the energy of the set. The way the production was managed, the vibe, the camaraderie—it was all so smooth and positive.”
Elaborating further on his off-screen connections, Romiit Raaj adds, “I especially miss working with the cast, who were incredibly warm and welcoming. Everyone was passionate about their craft, and that always brings out the best in an actor.”
Some of those relationships, he reveals, have blossomed into lasting friendships. “We used to sit together like a school gang—everyone bringing home-cooked food, sharing stories, even squeezing in quick games or making reels between takes. There was always laughter on set. Even during intense scenes, someone would crack a joke and lift the mood instantly,” he concludes.
As Romiit Raaj looks ahead to new horizons, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai remains a chapter he holds close—not just as a defining moment in his career, but as a joyful, heartfelt experience that will forever feel like home.
