Shivam Khajuria: Anupamaa Has Redefined Me As An Actor, And I’m Cherishing Every Moment Of This Journey

Shivam Khajuria, who plays Prem in Anupamaa, opens up about how the role has transformed his career and deepened his connection with audiences. He reflects on the show’s impact, both personally and socially, as it continues to spark meaningful conversations.

Shivam Khajuria, who currently plays Prem in Star Plus’ popular and long-running show Anupamaa, is relishing his experience and embracing the depth of his character. In a recent conversation with Downtown Mirror Weekly, the actor opened up about the profound connection he feels with his role and the growing recognition he’s receiving from audiences.

Speaking about Prem, he shared, “Prem isn’t the cookie-cutter male lead. He’s flawed, sincere, and emotionally open — and that’s his strength. What surprises me the most is how audiences have taken him to heart. I get messages every day from viewers who say they see themselves in him. That kind of honest connection is rare and incredibly humbling.”

Though Shivam has previously appeared in shows like Mann Sundar and Kumkum Bhagya, he acknowledges that Anupamaa has been a career-defining milestone. “This role gave me a new identity—one that feels deeply rooted and personal. The audiences see me in their homes each evening, and that connection with the audience is something I treasure,” he noted.

The narrative leap in Anupamaa came with its own challenges, and Shivam candidly admits to having had initial doubts. “There was nervousness—naturally. Stepping into a show with such a legacy, we wondered how the audience would respond. But we weren’t replacing anyone, just carrying the story forward. That gave us strength. We’ve formed a tight-knit family on set. We’re all rooting for each other, and that positivity translates on screen too. It’s rare to find such synergy.”

Given the massive fanbase and cultural impact of Anupamaa, Shivam considers himself fortunate to be part of a show that transcends entertainment and sparks meaningful societal conversations. Whether it’s parenting, evolving gender roles, or navigating complex relationships, the series holds a mirror to real-life dynamics.

“Anupamaa isn’t just a family drama — it’s a reflection of everyday struggles and silent battles happening in so many homes. Being part of a narrative that initiates real dialogue and encourages change is something I’m genuinely proud of,” he concluded.
