Shivangi Verma, known for her roles in popular television shows like Hamari Sister Didi, TV, Biwi Aur Main, Choti Sarrdaarni, and most recently seen in the film Badass Ravi Kumar, has had a journey shaped by passion, perseverance, and purpose.
In an exclusive interview with Downtown Mirror Weekly, the actress reflected on her career and the impact television has had on her life. “Television made me who I am,” she shared, adding, “It gave me confidence, fan love, and the discipline every actor needs. There’s an instant and heartfelt connection with the audience through TV — that’s what I love most. It becomes a part of people’s everyday lives.”
Reflecting on her personal and professional growth over the years, Shivangi Verma noted, “I’ve definitely evolved. Earlier, I used to rely heavily on feedback, but now I trust my instincts more. Every character I’ve portrayed has added a new layer to my craft. The biggest shift has been in how I express emotions — I’ve learned to portray subtlety and depth more effectively.”
Commenting on the changing landscape of Indian television, she emphasised the evolving nature of content and audience expectations. “TV isn’t just about saas-bahu dramas anymore. It’s becoming more experimental, characters are more layered, and realism is in demand. With social media, everything has become immediate — especially feedback,” Shivangi Verma observed.
While fame comes with its fair share of criticism, Shivangi Verma maintains a balanced outlook. “Trolling is part of the package. You can’t let anonymous hate affect you. I read it, smile, and move on. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but negativity doesn’t deserve my energy,” she said with conviction.
Having recently transitioned into films, Shivangi Verma spoke about the difference between working in television and cinema. “Movies give you the luxury of time — time to prepare, shoot, and perfect. TV, on the other hand, is fast-paced — raw and real-time. I love both for what they offer. Films feel like a creative retreat, while TV will always feel like home,” she concluded.
