Shiwani Chakraborty relives a cherished childhood memory as she performs to Mujhe Rang De from Takshak on Anupamaa.
From solo competitions to synchronised TV dance sequences, the experience marks a full-circle moment for the actress.
Actress Shiwani Chakraborty recently revisited a treasured part of her childhood while performing to the classic track Mujhe Rang De from Takshak in a special sequence in the hit TV show Anupamaa. For Shiwani, this performance wasn’t just another on-screen moment—it was a deeply nostalgic experience tied to her childhood.
Speaking about the song, Shiwani Chakraborty shared, “Rang De from Takshak carries the fragrance of childhood memories for me. It instantly fills me with nostalgia. As a kid, I used to perform to this song often and even won several prizes. I’ve always admired Tabu in the song—she’s one of my favorite actresses.”
She fondly recalled a particular memory from her early dancing days.
She shared, “I remember once, just a day before a competition, every song I picked was already chosen by someone else. That’s when I finalised this one—with my dad’s help. He always encouraged me to go for something unique, something no one else would think of. I put the entire routine together in just one day and ended up winning an award for it! That moment made the song truly unforgettable for me.”
Performing the same song years later, but this time on television and for a massive audience, felt like a full-circle moment for the actress. “Dancing to it in Anupamaa was like reliving a beautiful chapter of my life. Who would have imagined that one day I’d perform my favorite childhood song in India’s number one show?” she expressed with joy.
However, unlike her childhood solo performance, this time Shiwani was part of a group act, dancing alongside her co-actors including Raahi, played by Adrija Roy. “Back then, I performed solo. But in the show, it’s a group dance. Coordinating and staying in sync with others, especially with limited rehearsal time, was challenging,” Shiwani Chakraborty explained.
She went on to praise the team behind the performance.
Shiwani Chakraborty said, “We didn’t get much time to prepare, but thanks to our choreographers, everything fell into place. The routine fuses energetic Bollywood moves with the elegance of semi-classical dance, resulting in a dynamic and captivating performance. They made sure we got every move right and stayed in rhythm with one another. On TV, we’re always working against tight deadlines, but we gave it our best. I’m so happy I got to perform my all-time favorite song on my favorite show.”
