Somy Ali Speaks From The Heart About The Challenges, Truth, And Courage Bbehind No More Tears

Former Bollywood actress Somy Ali started her NGO No More Tears in Florida in 2007. Her aim was to rescue and assist victims of abuse and trafficking, and she has so far saved over 50,000 victims. In a recent video that she shared on her Instagram handle, she revealed that some people are trying to malign the image of her organization and character assassinate the people that are within her non-profit organization. But she asserted that despite the hurdles, her mission to save and protect those who have no one else to turn to remains strong.

She added, “We’ve been around for 18 years. We won two presidential awards, and we have won so many accolades that I can’t even count, but the accolades are not what matters to us.”

Her passion stems from her own experiences. She said, “I started this work because I grew up in a home of domestic violence. I, myself, am a survivor, and there are a lot of people that don’t like me talking about things that are true.”

Over the years, No More Tears has faced online attacks and false accusations; however, she understands where the anger stems from. She said, “When we rescue a victim, be it a human trafficking victim, a child, a young man, or a member of our LGBTQ community, the traffickers or the abusers get very angry with me because I deal with the victims directly.”

Despite it all, she remains transparent about the foundation’s finances. Somy Ali said, “I have never taken a dollar salary from No More Tears. Every dollar that you donate goes directly to our victim services programs.” But she added that the struggle goes beyond financial challenges. She said, “When you take away their commodity, they try to malign and assassinate your character and your nonprofit.”

Opening up further, she revealed how her past in Bollywood still affects her present. She said, “Everyone in Bollywood has distanced themselves from me because my ex-boyfriend has told them not to talk to me.”

But her purpose has remained firm: to fight for victims and continue saving lives. She said, “Every time you try to take a stand for something good, you will inevitably face obstacles no matter what you do.”

As Give Miami Day approaches on November 20, Somy made an appeal. She said, “If you care about victims of human trafficking, children as young as eight and nine years old who are raped by 50-year-old men on a daily basis, please donate to No More Tears through Give Miami Day.”

“Do not abandon us, and do not believe these evil people because they will continue as long as there’s good, there is evil, and we are fighting evil,” Somy Ali ended.
