Aarti Bhagat opens up about the challenges of portraying a Maharashtrian character in Jamai No. 1 and how staying calm through chaos has shaped her both personally and professionally.
Aarti Bhagat is no stranger to long hours, high emotions, and the ever-demanding world of television. The actress, who is charming audiences with her portrayal of a Maharashtrian character in the hit TV show Jamai No. 1, shares how she has developed both professionally and personally while embracing the ups and downs of her acting career.
Talking candidly about her experience in the industry, Aarti Bhagat reflects on one piece of advice that has stayed with her through the chaos of hectic shoot schedules and emotionally charged scenes.
“The best advice I’ve received is to stay calm,” Aarti Bhagat shares.
Aarti Bhagat adds, “After working on set for more than 12 hours, changing looks, crying, laughing, all in one day-it’s very easy to get irritated, especially with little sleep and so much going on. But staying calm during tough moments has really helped me.”
Aarti Bhagat believes this advice is something many actors can relate to. The pressure to perform, stay composed, and remain professional amidst chaos is real. “I think a lot of actors go through this, and learning to breathe and be patient makes a big difference,” she adds thoughtfully.
One big thing I’ve learned is the language
In Jamai No. 1, Aarti Bhagat takes on the challenge of portraying a character whose cultural background is vastly different from her own. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, she’s now immersed in the nuances of a Maharashtrian role, an experience she says has been both enriching and transformative.
“One big thing I’ve learned is the language,” Aarti Bhagat explains, adding, “My character is a Maharashtrian, and I’m from Jammu and Kashmir, so the language is completely different. I’ve been putting in a lot of effort to improve my Marathi and become more comfortable speaking it.”
The role, she says, has helped her evolve not just as an actor but also as a person. “This show has taught me so much, and the character has given me a new identity, which I’m really enjoying. I’ve added my emotions, little habits, and the way I express myself to the role, and I think that’s made it more real,” Aarti Bhagat concludes with a smile.
