Sumbul Touqeer On Her Role In Itti Si Khushi: There’s Beauty In Strength That’s Not Loud

In her new show, Itti Si Khushi, c will be seen as Anvita Diwekar, a 21-year-old who becomes the emotional backbone of her broken family.

She will portray a quietly powerful character navigating responsibility, resilience, and sacrifice.

Known for being selective with her roles, Sumbul Touqeer doesn’t hesitate to wait for scripts that resonate deeply with her—and her new venture is no exception. After captivating audiences as IAS officer Kavya Bansal in Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, and making a brief yet memorable appearance in Jaadu Teri Nazar – Daayan Ka Mausam, the actress is stepping back into the spotlight with her latest project, Itti Si Khushi. The show is a heartfelt family drama anchored in emotion and everyday truth.

Itti Si Khushi tells the story of 21-year-old Anvita Diwekar, the eldest of six siblings, who unexpectedly becomes the emotional anchor of her fractured household. Sumbul Touqeer steps into the role of Anvita, a character shaped not by grand gestures but by quiet resilience and unwavering responsibility. As she navigates her role as protector, nurturer, and decision-maker, Anvita becomes the steady force her younger siblings depend on. According to news report, Varun Badola has been cast as their father.

When reflecting on the emotional weight of portraying such a layered character—one who rises to the challenge of holding a family together through silent sacrifice—Sumbul Touqeer, who shot to fame with her breakthrough performance in Imlie, shares, “Absolutely, I think there’s something very beautiful about portraying strength that’s not loud, but still unshakable. Being the eldest, being the one who holds the family together—it’s something so many girls can relate to.”

And for her, the emotional payoff is real. “Yes, it does feel personal sometimes. When a story like that touches people’s hearts, it feels like a reminder that you’re on the right path. Every actor craves that feeling—not just of being seen, but of being understood,” Sumbul Touqeer says.
