Sumbul Touqeer Says Ramadan Is Now About Prayers, Gratitude, and Inner Peace

For actress Sumbul Touqeer, known for her roles in Imlie, Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, and currently seen in Itni Si Khushi, Ramadan is far more than just fasting. For her, the holy month is filled with calm, reflection, and emotional connection.

She says that Ramadan is an incredibly peaceful and meaningful period in her life. It’s not just about abstaining from food and water. It’s about gratitude, patience, and feeling spiritually connected to Allah. It allows me to step back and reconnect with myself. In many ways, Ramadan feels like a reset for both my heart and mind.”

How Sumbul Celebrates Ramadan with Her Father Touqeer Khan and Sister Saniya

Spending the month with her father, Touqeer Khan, and her sister Saniya Touqeer makes it even more special. We cherish doing everything side by side — from fasting through the day to sitting together for Iftar in the evening. That time with family means everything to me,” she says.

Recalling her childhood, Sumbul Touqeer fondly remembers simple yet precious Iftar moments. “One of my sweetest memories is sitting on the floor with my family, waiting for the Azaan. There would be fruits, dates, and homemade dishes laid out in front of us. My sister and I would keep glancing at the clock in excitement. When the Azaan finally began, we would exchange smiles before taking our first bite. That sense of togetherness is something I still cherish.”

Sumbul Touqeer also vividly remembers observing her first fast. “I was very young and eager to fast like the elders. My father told me I could break it if I felt tired, but I was determined to complete it. When I finally did, everyone appreciated me, and I felt incredibly proud. That day made me feel more grown-up.”

Over the years, her understanding of Ramadan has evolved. “As a child, Ramadan meant new clothes and delicious food. Now, it feels much deeper. It’s about prayer, discipline, and being thankful. Even with work commitments, we make sure the true spirit of Ramadan remains alive in our home.”
