Swaroopa Ghosh On Friendship Day: Genuine Friendships Are Rare In Any Walk Of Life

Swaroopa Ghosh reflects on the meaning of true friendship, emphasizing that real bonds don’t need a special day to be celebrated.

She values deep, meaningful connections over grand gestures.

Seasoned actress Swaroopa Ghosh, who was last seen in Sony TV’s Aami Dakini, shares that she doesn’t believe in celebrating designated days like Friendship Day, as her friends already know how much they mean to her.

Swaroopa Ghosh, who recently made her South debut with Jaat, and is also known for her roles in films like Piku, Vicky Donor, and Pink, says, “I don’t really celebrate Friendship Day.

The people I consider my true friends know how precious we are to each other. There’t no need for a designated day to recognise it. For me, every moment we spend together is a celebration in itself.”

Discussing friendships in the entertainment industry, Swaroopa Ghosh shares,

“Honestly, genuine friendships are rare in any walk of life, not just in this industry. But I have been fortunate to have a few people I can truly call friends, even within this space. What matters to me is a meaningful connection, people with whom I can share grief, happiness, concerns, and just be myself. What truly matters is the connection, not the career path.”

On how she likes to spend time with friends, Swaroopa Ghosh adds,

“Generally, just enjoying each other’s company. Meaningful conversations, being present for each other, and sharing life as it comes, that’s what I value most. Of course, physical presence is better than virtual chats, but even a simple phone call can be enough when the bond is strong.”

When asked if she is still in touch with childhood friends, Swaroopa Ghosh says,

“Yes, I’m in touch with some of them. Childhood friendships are special, they’re like siblings because you’ve grown up together and shared a lot of formative experiences. But I also feel that as we grow up, even those relationships can evolve or drift. Interestingly, my closest friends today aren’t from my childhood. The people we meet as adults are already shaped by life, so the dynamic is different. You haven’t shared that journey, and that does make a difference.”
