Holi, the vibrant festival of colors, brings joy, unity, and celebration to everyone. It’s a time for people to come together, creating unforgettable memories filled with laughter, music, and delicious treats. The cast of the popular TV show Jamai No. 1, produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Studio LSD, shares their fondest Holi memories and favorite festive foods.
). Abhishek Malik (Neel Paranjape):This year, I’m excited to celebrate Holi with my mom and sister, who are visiting me in Mumbai. I prefer to keep the celebration simple and organic by playing dry Holi. When I was younger, I loved playing with watercolors, but now I focus more on spending quality time with family, enjoying delicious food, and creating special memories. Some of my fondest Holi memories are from childhood when we’d play on our terrace and later enjoy the swimming pool. I vividly remember my mom applying mustard oil to my skin and coconut oil to my hair to help prevent the colors from staining. As for food, nothing beats my favorite Holi treats: gujiya, thandai, and dahi bhalla.
). Simaran Kaur (Riddhi Chotwani): Holi is a festival of love, unity, and positivity — it reminds us to let go of negativity and embrace the colorful happiness of life. As a child, I’d wake up early, fill my pichkari, and run around with my friends, making sure no one escaped without being colored! My favorite Holi treat is gujiya, which brings back so many sweet memories of home. I prefer using organic colors, so if we have a break from shooting, I’ll celebrate with my fellow cast members on the Jamai No. 1 set.
). Papia Sengupta (Kanchan Chotwani): Holi signifies new beginnings, love, and togetherness. I’ve always looked forward to the celebrations, especially smearing colors on my family and dancing to Bollywood Holi songs! I still enjoy reliving those moments. For food, dahi bhalla is my go-to Holi dish — I can never have just one!
). Gaurav Wadhwa (Vicky): Holi is all about laughter, music, and colors. It’s the one day everyone forgets their worries and simply enjoys the moment. As a kid, I was the prankster, hiding water balloons and surprising my friends. My favorite Holi snacks include malpua, jalebi, samosas, and kachori — crispy, sweet, and absolutely delicious!
). Jinal Jain (Simran): The best thing about Holi is how it spreads joy and positivity. I have fond memories of playing with herbal colors, dancing to Holi songs, and enjoying delicious sweets. My favorite Holi treat has to be gujiya — it’s a festival classic that I can never resist!
). Saniya Nagdev (Kamlesh): Holi is a festival of colors, emotions, and traditions. It’s always been close to my heart because it brings people together in the most joyful way. As a kid, I loved preparing natural colors with flowers and making colorful water balloons. For me, no Holi celebration is complete without dahi vada — it’s the perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors! I also indulge in malpua and gulab jamun during the festivities.

). Ray Parihar (Pratham): Holi reminds us that life should be full of excitement and color. My childhood Holis were all about mischief—splattering colors, running around with friends, and coming home completely drenched! The best part? Devouring plates of crispy jalebis, samosas, and gulab jamun afterward — it’s my guilty pleasure every Holi.
). Aarti Bhagat (Manjiri): This year, I plan to celebrate Holi simply — just enjoying it with my cousins and friends. The main goal is to ensure no one is left colorless! Since childhood, I’ve mostly played with water and water balloons, occasionally using gulaal, but I love the thrill of splashing water and seeing everyone drenched in colors! One of my favorite Holi memories is from my childhood when an aunty from our colony used to distribute gujiyas after Holi. We’d eagerly wait for a knock on our door, knowing she was arriving with those delicious sweets. Being from Jammu, Holi for me isn’t complete without my mom’s rajma chawal — a comforting meal after a long day of celebration!
). Poonam Sirnaik (Nani; Parmeshwari Chotwani): Holi is a festival of colors, as we all know. I love this festival, but I don’t have any plans yet. Dry Holi is my choice — water balloons are a big no-no! Growing up, we played Holi and enjoyed the food my mom prepared. In the north, visitors would come, and everything would be served on large platters — gone in an instant! Gujiya and mathri bring back fond memories of my mom’s homemade food — it was the best. Nowadays, I don’t play, so I don’t follow any special routines.
). Dushyant Vora (Gangadhar): We might celebrate Holi with our on-screen family, but if we’re not shooting, I’ll definitely celebrate with friends! As a teenager, I loved playing with water balloons for that extra thrill. Now, I prefer dry Holi. With a bandana and oil, I take care of my hair — whatever is left of it! I’m not a big foodie, so I stick to light and healthy dishes.
). Shruti Gholap (Sumati): If we’re shooting, there won’t be any special plans for Holi. But if we get a break, I’ll celebrate with friends. I love all the colors of Holi — it truly is the festival of colors. I prefer dry Holi since watercolors take longer to wash off. As a child, I would prepare a huge bucket of water balloons with my 15 friends and throw them at each other. I used tea bags on my face and coconut oil on my hair for protection. My absolute favorite Holi treats are puran poli, dahi vada, ice cream, ragda pattice, thandai, and faluda!
