Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a left-handed top-order batsman from Samastipur, Bihar, has become the youngest player ever to secure an IPL contract. At just 13 years and 243 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was signed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for ₹1.10 crore, following an intense bidding war with Delhi Capitals.
Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise began with his standout performances for India Under-19, including a blistering 58-ball century against Australia Under-19 in Chennai. This knock not only caught the eye of scouts but also made him the youngest centurion in youth cricket at 13 years and 187 days, breaking Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s previous record.

Rajasthan Royals’ CEO, Jake Lush McCrum, expressed excitement about Suryavanshi’s potential, crediting his performances at their high-performance center in Nagpur. “He’s an incredible talent… lots of work will go into developing him further, but we’re thrilled to have him as part of our franchise,” McCrum said.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi draws inspiration from cricket legend Brian Lara and frequently consults former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer for guidance. His journey in cricket began under the watchful eye of his father and coach, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, a former cricketer who nurtured Vaibhav’s talent from a young age.
