Sara Arfeen Khan believes in giving back to society for all the love and support she’s received from audiences over the years. Best known for her roles in shows like Dhoondh Legi Manzil Humein, Love Ka Hai Intezaar, and Jamai Raja, as well as films like Sooryavanshi and Singham Again, Sara is now turning her passion for art into a movement for change.
The actor has launched the Sara Arfeen Khan Foundation, an initiative that helps children from underserved communities access the world of art.
“The foundation is all about making creativity and art accessible to every child, especially those who may not have the privilege or resources to explore it,” she shares, adding, “Art is often considered a luxury, something extra, but I see it as essential. It’s a tool for expression, healing, confidence-building, and even creating a career. Through this initiative, we want to give underserved kids not only materials and training, but also the encouragement to believe that their talent can take them places.”
The idea took root during her visits to low-income communities, where she was struck by the raw, untapped potential of the children.
She says, “The seed was planted when I interacted with kids from underserved backgrounds and noticed their raw, natural talent. I’ve seen them pick up a brush and paint with so much passion sometimes even better than kids who have access to the best schools. That made me realise it’s not the lack of talent, it’s the lack of opportunity. My own journey also played a role, as I wasn’t inclined towards academics. But art gave me a voice. I wanted to create a platform that ensures no child with artistic potential is left behind just because they can’t afford it.”
I believe it is one of the most powerful tools of empowerment
Sara recently visited an orphanage and was awestruck by the talent she saw. “Our long-term plan is to build a strong ecosystem where art is not underestimated but recognized as a real pathway to growth, confidence, and success. We want to set up regular workshops, scholarships, and mentorship programs with established artists,” she explains, adding, “Eventually, I see this growing into art centres across the country, where children from all walks of life can come, learn, express, and even build careers.”
On why she chose art as the medium to connect with young talent, she says, “Art chose me. For me, art was always a safe space a world where I could be myself, free of judgment, and limitless in expression. Many kids are like me. They may not shine in academics, but when handed a canvas, they bloom. Beyond that, art is deeply therapeutic. It relieves stress and anxiety and offers a healthy, creative outlet for emotions. Art doesn’t just create paintings it creates confidence, healing, imagination, and possibility. That’s why I believe it is one of the most powerful tools of empowerment.”
