Actor and filmmaker Akshay Singh opens up about the challenges of balancing creativity and personal life in the entertainment industry.

Actor and filmmaker Akshay Singh, best known for Ghayal Once Again, Baat Bann Gayi, and Vikalp, as well as for writing and directing the critically acclaimed Pinky Beauty Parlour and creating the web series Naam Gum Jayega, believes that achieving a true work–life balance in the entertainment world is an ongoing struggle.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared,
“Balancing work and personal life in cinema is like trying to keep a diya lit in the wind, it needs constant attention. For someone like me, who wears multiple hats as a writer, director, producer, and actor, shoots, scripts, and meetings can easily consume every waking hour.”
For Akshay Singh, balance is not about dividing time equally but about being fully present in each moment. “When I’m working, I give it everything. When I’m with family or friends, I switch off the filmmaker mode completely. I also have my own world where I do things just for myself,” he said.
Speaking about his creative recharge, he added, “I love to dance, travel, and cook, those are like therapy breaks for me. A balanced mind creates better stories, after all.”
Now in a dynamic phase of his career, Akshay Singh is focused on bringing his diverse and imaginative stories to life. He shared, “I have several stories brewing across genres some are finished scripts, others are still taking shape and each excites me like my first day on set. What drives me now is the thrill of collaboration. Working with talented actors, technicians, and studios not only elevates my vision but also helps me stay centered amid multiple projects.”
Akshay Singh concluded with optimism,
“I’m already in discussions with some creative powerhouses, and that keeps me buzzing with energy. This truly feels like the most exciting chapter of my journey, as both a filmmaker and an actor. It’s just the beginning, and I firmly believe collaboration is where the magic lies.”
