As Jhanak Gears Up For A Time Leap, Krushal Ahuja Opens Up About Show’s Ratings Dip

Jhanak, which began on a high note and quickly climbed the TRP charts, eventually witnessed a noticeable dip in its ratings. This decline prompted the makers to take a decisive step by introducing a time leap, which also marks the exit of lead actors Krushal Ahuja and Hiba Nawab. So, what led to the sudden drop in viewership? Krushal shares his perspective…

Star Plus’ popular family drama Jhanak is gearing up for a major shift as it prepares for a significant 20-year leap. The show, which once captivated audiences and topped TRP charts, is now set to bid farewell to its original lead pair, Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja. The makers are introducing new faces to take the story forward, marking a new chapter in the narrative. Interestingly, this leap was initially planned for January 2025 but was delayed and is only being implemented now, sparking curiosity among loyal viewers about the reasons behind the change and the show’s evolving trajectory.

Jhanak debuted with strong storytelling and a promising cast, quickly establishing itself as a fan favorite. However, over the past few months, the show experienced a sudden dip in viewership, raising questions about what went wrong. In an interview with Downtown Mirror Weekly, Krushal – the original male lead of the show – candidly shared his thoughts on the decline in ratings.

Krushal Ahuja shared, “I think the decision to make the show 60 minutes long was, in itself, a huge one. Delivering 60 minutes of content every day, seven days a week, is incredibly demanding. Along with that, you need to ensure the content is engaging.”

Krushal Ahuja further explained, “People don’t mind watching something for an hour or even two, but only if the content holds their interest. I’m not saying particularly about Jhanak, but I do believe the content could have been stronger. Somewhere along the way, viewers may have lost connection with the story because it wasn’t consistently entertaining.”

Krushal Ahuja pointed out that long episodes demand not just volume but substance to keep viewers engaged. He said, “An hour-long format works better for OTT platforms, not traditional television, where viewer attention spans are shorter. If you still choose to go with it, then maintaining quality and consistency is absolutely essential.”
