Kanwar Dhillon On Micro‑Dramas: You Need To Grab Attention In Two Minutes

Kanwar Dhillon believes micro‑dramas offer actors and creators a fresh and flexible platform to experiment, grow, and reach audiences quickly.

Despite their brief runtime, he stresses that strong storytelling and tight scripting can make these bite‑sized dramas deeply impactful.

Actor Kanwar Dhillon, known for Udne Ki Aasha and Pandya Store, recently shared his thoughts on the growing trend of micro‑dramas, a format that’s fast rising in India’s digital space.

“Micro‑dramas are a great entry point for new talent actors, writers, directors, even producers,” says Kanwar Dhillon, adding, “There are so many creatives who want to try different work and challenge themselves. Also, it’s a quicker way to earn, instead of being stuck doing the same kind of daily shoots.”

He believes the format brings freshness and flexibility. Kanwar Dhillon says, “You finish a character, shoot something, and in two days you move on. I used to enjoy episodic too trying many different characters. But those episodics are getting rare. Micro‑dramas feel like the new experiment.”

Kanwar Dhillon adds that a micro‑drama needs to grab attention instantly. He says, “Viewers watch these in two or three minutes and then scroll away. To make a drama that people remember or share, you need a strong hook from the start. Editing, scripting everything has to be tight.”

He also acknowledges the challenges. Kanwar Dhillon shares, “Friends working on vertical formats say it’s tough to condense everything into two or three days with tight schedules and costs. Every creative decision has to be planned carefully.”

Despite differences in length or platform, he says acting remains the same. He says, “If you know your craft, you can perform well on any platform. The basics don’t change.”

Summing up, Kanwar Dhillon calls it a creative task to pack drama, emotion, and a full story into short episodes. He feels excited by how many people are trying this format.
