Pushpa Impossible Actress Indraxi Kanjilal: Real Actors Aren’t Getting Jobs Because…;They Do Not Have As Many Followers

Indraxi Kanjilal, currently seen in Pushpa Impossible, opens up about the harsh realities of the entertainment industry, from the constant pressure to stay visible to the growing dominance of influencers over trained actors.

In today’s entertainment industry, talent alone is no longer enough. Visibility, particularly on social media, has become a key currency, often outweighing skill or training.

Actress Indraxi Kanjilal, currently seen in Pushpa Impossible, offers a candid take on what it means to stay relevant in such a landscape.

“I know for a fact that staying relevant in the industry is a huge deal,” Indraxi Kanjilal says, adding, “It’s very challenging, and actors face this all the time. Because if you’re not relevant, then you’re not getting any more work. Nowadays, everything is much more dependent on our social media presence or relevance rather than just our performance. So, it is very important to stay relevant.”

She is especially critical of the influencer-first casting culture. Indraxi Kanjilal says,

“Actors today are getting judged on their appearance more than their talent. I’ve seen people hiring influencers more than real actors. If you have a good following, you get cast—even if you don’t deserve it. And real actors, who are actually good at their job, are not getting jobs because they don’t have as much following. It’s a sad reality.”

Indraxi Kanjilal adds, “Most of the time, people ask for my Instagram ID or YouTube ID. They want to see your profile. Whether you’re talented or not doesn’t matter—your following does. I hope someday people actually see real talented people and cast them instead of these so-called influencers who don’t even know how to perform or act.”
