Actor Suraj Berry opens up about his deep admiration for Amitabh Bachchan, calling him the ultimate example of resilience and timeless excellence.
From Deewar to KBC, Suraj says Bachchan continues to inspire generations with his passion and purpose.
Suraj Berry, son of veteran actor Sudesh Berry, remembered for iconic films like Border, Sanam Teri Kasam, Army, and television shows such as Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Suraag: The Clue, is all set to make a comeback to acting after years away from the screen. Suraj draws his greatest inspiration from one of Indian cinema’s most enduring legends, Amitabh Bachchan.
Speaking about the megastar’s remarkable journey, Suraj says, “Amitabh Bachchan is truly the definition of timeless excellence. His journey from facing rejections and career lows to becoming one of the most celebrated icons in Indian cinema is nothing short of inspiring. What stands out most to me is his resilience, he never allowed setbacks to define him. Even after decades in the industry, he continues to reinvent himself and stay relevant, which is incredibly rare and admirable.”
When asked about his favourite films, Suraj admits it’s hard to pick just two. He shares, “But Deewar and Piku are my absolute favorites. Deewar captures the raw intensity and moral conflict that defined his ‘angry young man’ era. Piku, on the other hand, shows his softer, more relatable side, a father navigating modern relationships. The contrast between these two films shows his incredible versatility.”
Suraj also praises Bachchan’s reinvention as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati. He says, “KBC gave him a whole new dimension. He connected with millions not as a superstar, but as a warm, humble, and deeply empathetic human being.”
Recalling his meeting with the legend, Suraj shares, “I met him once with my dad. I was completely starstruck, it’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
Reflecting on Bachchan’s energy and dedication, Suraj adds, “If I can have even half his energy and discipline at that age, I’d consider myself lucky. He’s living proof that passion can keep you forever young.”
