Antara from Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega continues to be one of the most memorable and defining roles in Daljiet Kaur’s acting career. Though she delivered a memorable performance, the actress reflects on how she would approach the role if given another chance.
“If I were to play Antara again, I’d make her a bit cooler and more powerful,” she shares thoughtfully. Dalljiet Kaur adds, “In television, we create a character as we go along. If I had known her character sketch in advance, I would have played her differently.”
Daljiet Kaur, who has been part of the industry for years, also feels that Indian television content hasn’t evolved much over time. When asked whether she finds the industry more challenging now or during her early days, she replies candidly, “A million percent different. With content flowing like water, you are just a part of the flow. In television, I feel the content is still where I left it. Nothing significantly influenced by other content is coming in. But maybe that’s what the television audience still wants.”
Her observations reflect the changing dynamics of the entertainment world, especially with the explosion of content across digital platforms. Daljiet Kaur adds with honesty, “I see so many award shows and so many winners, and I don’t recognise them. I feel I’m disrespecting them in my thoughts, but I truly have to Google them to see what they’ve done. It’s amazing how much content is being made that we’re unaware of.”
