Anupama Solanki: Protecting Animals Shouldn’t Be A One-Day Effort

Anupama Solanki reflects on the true meaning of International Dog Day, urging people to show compassion toward animals not just once a year but every day.

She emphasizes adoption, awareness, and collective responsibility to create a more humane society.

Though International Dog Day (August 26) has passed, its message remains deeply relevant and actress Anupama Solanki is making sure it isn’t forgotten.

Abandoning Pets or Ignoring The Plight Of Strays Is Inhumane

Known for her sensitive perspective on social issues, Anupama Solanki recently shared a heartfelt message reminding people that kindness toward animals should be a daily practice, not just a once-a-year celebration.

“Dogs offer us their loyalty and affection without asking for anything in return. The least we can do is ensure that they are treated with love and respect. Abandoning pets or ignoring the plight of strays is inhumane,” she said.

While many individuals choose to adopt and care for dogs, Anupama believes that real change happens when communities and authorities join forces.

“Both NGOs and local communities need to play an active role in supporting this cause. Collaborative efforts between government bodies, NGOs, and citizens can create a sustainable ecosystem where animals are not just surviving but living with dignity,” she emphasised.

Giving Dogs Shelter Can Change Their Entire World

For Anupama Solanki, animals should never be treated as disposable. “When you adopt a dog, you’re not just giving it a home, you’re giving it a life. I always encourage people to adopt rather than buy. Every street has dogs who are hungry, lonely, and in need of care. Giving them shelter can change their entire world,” she said passionately.

She also spoke about the importance of empathy in shaping a more compassionate society. “It is our duty as human beings to safeguard those who are unable to advocate for themselves. If we give animals a safe home, we are not only saving their lives but also making the world more humane. Compassion towards animals reflects the kind of society we live in,” she said.

Anupama hopes that awareness days like International Dog Day serve as year-round reminders.

“This day should inspire us to take action, feed strays, support shelters, and most importantly, spread awareness about kindness. Small steps, when taken collectively, can bring big change,” she concluded.
