Actress and parliamentarian Jaya Bachchan was speaking at the We The Women Asia Mumbai edition.
At the We The Women Asia Mumbai Edition, veteran actor and parliamentarian Jaya Bachchan offered candid insights into her long marriage with Amitabh Bachchan. During an interactive session, she was asked if she remembers the moment she fell in love with him. Responding with humour, she said, “Do you have to dig into old wounds?” before adding, “I’ve been married to the same man for 52 years… I can’t love him more than that.”
Bachchan went on to acknowledge that it was love at first sight, a rare admission that drew attention for its openness. Her remarks combined wit with warmth, reflecting her characteristic style of engaging with audiences.
The conversation was part of the Mumbai edition of We The Women Asia, a platform that brings together voices from diverse fields to discuss personal journeys, social issues, and experiences that shape public life. Bachchan’s reflections highlighted both the longevity of her marriage and the enduring bond she shares with Amitabh Bachchan, one of Indian cinema’s most prominent superstars.
