Shikha Singh marks her return to television with Rahul Kumar Tewary’s Jagadhatri, playing the intense and layered character of Sakshi Mittal.
The actor opens up about her comeback, her evolved approach to acting, and why strong roles continue to fuel her passion.
Known for delivering impactful performances in popular television shows such as Na Aana Is Des Laado, Phulwa, Sasural Simar Ka, Pavitra Rishta and Kumkum Bhagya, Shikha Singh is back on the small screen after a three-year hiatus. The actor has joined Rahul Kumar Tewary’s women-centric drama Jagadhatri, where she essays the role of Sakshi Mittal, bringing a fresh layer of intensity and intrigue to the narrative. Shikha was last seen in Naagin 6.

Talking about her return to daily television, Shikha shares that Jagadhatri felt like the perfect comeback project because of its strong storytelling and the depth of her character. She reveals that she was in no rush to return and wanted to wait for something that truly excited her as an actor. Sakshi Mittal, she says, offered exactly that.
“A comeback only made sense to me if the role truly resonated with me creatively. I wanted a role that challenges me and gives me something meaningful to play,” she says.
Recalling her first day on the sets of Jagadhatri, Shikha describes it as instantly comforting despite the gap. “Even though it took time for this collaboration to happen again, the first day felt like I had been shooting with them forever. It’s the same extended family that has been together for years. That comfort is like the satisfaction of dal chawal for an Indian travelling abroad,” she shares with a smile.
Reflecting on her time away from daily soaps, the actor feels the break helped her grow both personally and professionally. She believes the pause allowed her to gain clarity, patience, and a deeper emotional understanding of her craft. She adds, “My understanding of performance and characters has deepened over time. Today, I’m more instinctive, calm, and emotionally connected to my scenes, and that growth naturally reflects in my performance.”
Returning to the demanding schedule of daily television wasn’t without challenges. Shikha admits that adjusting to long working hours and the fast-paced nature of TV took some time. However, once she stepped back on set, familiarity and passion took over. “Your body and mind eventually fall back into rhythm,” she says.
As she steps into Jagadhatri as Sakshi Mittal, Shikha hopes audiences resonate with her character and continue to shower the show with love. “The love I receive is overwhelming, and I truly hope viewers embrace this role and the show wholeheartedly,” she signs off, fingers crossed.
