Sharing why Makar Sankranti holds such a special place in her heart, Shubhangi Atre reflects on its emotional significance. She says, “Makar Sankranti has always been one of the most special festivals for me because it fills my heart with pure joy and warmth. It is not just about rituals or traditions, but about memories, togetherness, and the simple happiness that comes from being with loved ones.”

Recalling her growing-up years, she adds, “As a child, this festival meant our entire family would gather in Indore, turning the occasion into a small yet beautiful family reunion. Relatives would travel from different places, and the house would suddenly feel fuller, louder, and more alive with laughter and conversations.”

Looking back, the actress feels that the festival represents something much deeper than just a day of celebration. She shares, “Makar Sankranti reminds me of my childhood, of carefree days, strong family bonds, and the joy found in simple traditions.”

Painting a vivid picture of those times, Shubhangi Atre says, “The early mornings, colourful kites, music, laughter, and delicious sweets together created memories that I will always cherish. Even today, when the festival comes around, it takes me back to those beautiful moments on the terrace in Indore, filling my heart with the same excitement, warmth, and happiness.”

Apart from her childhood memories, Shubhangi Atre also recalls celebrating the festival in a different cultural setting that left a lasting impact on her. Talking about her experience in Gujarat, she says, “Once, I got the chance to celebrate Makar Sankranti in Gujarat, and it left a deep impression on me. I was amazed by how grandly the festival is celebrated there, with skies filled with thousands of colourful kites and people rejoicing with boundless enthusiasm.”

The food, she admits, made the experience even more special. Shubhangi Atre shares, “I tasted undhiyu with hot puris, and the flavours were so rich and comforting that I still remember them fondly. The festive mood, traditional dishes, and vibrant culture made it truly unforgettable.”

Despite her busy shooting schedule today, Shubhangi Atre makes sure the essence of the festival remains alive in her life. Signing off, she shares, “Even now, no matter how hectic work gets, I make it a point every Makar Sankranti to eat til and gud laddoos, offer my gratitude to God, and visit the temple.”
