Pardeep Singh Toor on Playing Mangal: “A Role That Changed Everything”
Riding high on the success of Balaji Telefilms’ Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hai, actor Pardeep Singh Toor is soaking in the love for his character Mangal — a role that has quickly become a viewer favourite in the high-TRP spin-off of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.
Pardeep Singh Toor, who has earlier featured in national shows like Kumkum Bhagya, Tu Juliet Jatt Di and Jurm Aur Jazbaat, says Mangal turned out to be far more complex than he imagined.

“Honestly, there isn’t just a single thing; it’s a combination of elements about Mangal that turned out to be quite different from what I initially expected,” Pardeep Singh Toor shared. “At first glance, while reading the script, I assumed his character was quite straightforward. But once I got into his skin, his sheer screen presence surprised me. He has this intense energy that completely shifts the dynamic of a scene the moment he walks in.”
The actor, who rose to fame with regional hits like Tedha Medha Sadda Vedha and Dildariyan and reality show Nidarr, admits Mangal is his polar opposite.
“What really intrigued me was how different Mangal is from my real-life personality. I am someone who always prefers to stay calm and composed, whereas Mangal is highly impulsive. He is a man who acts entirely from the heart rather than the head,” Pardeep Singh Toor said.
“He lives by a strict, old-school code of values and is fiercely loyal to those he loves, unapologetic about his rivalries, and stands unshakeably by his word. In today’s world, finding someone so uncompromising about their principles is rare, and playing those layers has been incredibly fulfilling.”

For Pardeep Singh Toor, the audience response has been the biggest win. “It’s reached a point where if I hit the gym or post a photo on Instagram, people don’t even address me by my real name anymore. They immediately call out ‘Mangal Bhaiya!’ Seeing them connect so deeply with the character’s values that they see Mangal instead of the actor is a beautiful feeling,” he signed off.
