Mohammed Iqbal Khan on His Journey: “Failure Before Success Keeps You Grounded”
From overnight fame with Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai to his current stint as Dr. Dev in a medical TV drama, Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan Mohammed Iqbal Khan has seen the industry shift across TV, films, and OTT. But the actor insists the real constant is staying grounded.

I’ve Never Formally Trained at an Acting School
Mohammed Iqbal Khan, who never went to acting school, says early setbacks shaped him more than any classroom could. “I’ve never formally trained at an acting school. I didn’t have the money that time to go, so I don’t know what all do they teach there,” he says. “Having said that, I didn’t achieve anything instantly. I had two flop films behind me before Kaisa Ye Pyar happened. So failure before success makes sure your head remains where it’s supposed to be. Even if you’re taught how to deal with failure, you will only know the reality of it when it hits you. A school might teach you that, but it instils in you only by experience.”
“In breaks I spend all the time with family so that when I get back to it again, they are okay with it. Balance is important.”
For Mohammed Iqbal Khan, the platform doesn’t dictate the performance.”I make sure to be honest in every medium I work across. Work has to happen with honesty irrespective of the medium,” he explains. “The speed at which things happen might differ with different mediums, but honesty has to stay. You have to give your best in whatever you are given, no matter what others think of it.”
Finding Freshness in Every New Role
He still finds freshness in every script. “There is always something you haven’t played in the past, even if the role is similar. It’s a good thing.”
And when the cameras stop rolling, family takes center stage. “In breaks I spend all the time with family so that when I get back to it again, they are okay with it. Balance is important.”
Currently seen in a medical TV show, Mohammed Iqbal Khan remains unfiltered about success, setbacks, and everything in between. For him, the craft isn’t about visibility but the truth he brings to each role. In an industry that rewards constant presence, Khan’s real flex is knowing when to step back.
