Mangal Lakshmi’s actor Urvashi Upadhyay who plays the character of Kusum in the show talks about her experience shooting with Naman Shaw and Deepika Singh.
Colors TV show Mangal Lakshmi has managed to make a strong mark in the viewers’ hearts. The show is getting immense love from the viewers and the actors from the show are also enjoying new-found success and fame.
Downtown Mirror Weekly got in touch with actress Urvashi Upadhyay who plays the character of Adit’s mother Kusum in the show and asked her about her working experience with actors Naman Shaw and Deepika Singh.
Talking about Deepika, Urvashi said, “Deepika is a very dedicated and professional actor. We gelled along quickly and formed a bond from day 1. It is great working with such a passionate actor. We discuss the scene before and there is an organic give and take during various scenes. Offscreen, we share a great camaraderie and I think that’s what reflects on the TV screens as well.”
She added, “Interestingly, Deepika and I can talk about almost everything under the sun. The moment we hear a ‘cut’ from the director, we talk and connect on various topics. We often discuss parenting, cooking and a lot more. Deepika is a classical dancer and I also have that background, so we talk about dance too. She is a very genuine person and I love that about her.”
Sharing an unknown fact about Deepika, Urvashi said, “One very beautiful thing about Deepika is that she says everything on a person’s face. She doesn’t have a lot of filters. She is very vocal about everything. I feel that’s a very rare quality these days. She is very real.”
Talking about Naman Shaw, Urvashi shared an interesting prank that he played on her during the initial filming of the show. She recalled, “We were travelling back from our outdoor schedule and my phone’s battery was running out. I told Naman and other actors that I’d quickly charge my phone from a charging point far away at the airport and I asked them to take care of my luggage by the time I returned.”
“After a few minutes, I returned back to the place where they were all seated and found nobody there. I kind of panicked. Suddenly, I got a call from Naman and he mentioned that the entire team boarded the flight. I was shocked, but somewhere down the line, I figured that something was fishy. These guys were hiding in corners and were recording me getting panicked. Soon, Naman revealed that it was a prank,” she said.
Urvashi Upadhyay further added, “Naman is the live wire of the sets and we miss him whenever he is not around.”
