EXCLUSIVE: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s Romit Raaj reveals his first reaction to his exit news: I thought it was a PRANK
In an exclusive chat with Downtown Mirror Weekly, Romit Raaj who played the character of Rohit Poddar in popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai revealed that he initially thought that the news of his exit from the show was a prank.
A while ago, Star Plus’ popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai witnessed an emotional exit of actor Romit Raaj who played the character of Rohit Poddar in the show. Romit’s character passed away tragically in the show.
Downtown Mirror Weekly got in touch with Romit Raaj to know more about his exit from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. When asked about his first reaction to his exit news, Romit said, “Well, I was aware that the character might end any time after three months of joining the show.
I was prepared for it but it got extended until nine months and I was elated to be a part of the show for such a long time. I got to perform so many brilliant scenes which have been loved by the viewers. I believe I got twice the love that I expected by playing this character and I’m grateful to the makers for the same.”
On learning about his exit from the show, Romit Raaj said, “I remember it was April Fools’ Day when I got a call from the makers about my exit and for a moment I thought it was a prank. But, it wasn’t. It was also the day when Rajan Shahi and the Director’s Kut Productions hosted an iftaar party on our sets. It was a difficult moment for me to hide the news from the rest of the cast.”
“I had many emotional feelings that the show would continue and I wouldn’t be a part of the next year’s iftaar party while the rest of the cast will be shooting for the project and I’d miss playing Rohit Poddar. So, that’s it, it was an emotional moment for me”, Romit Raaj concluded.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai stars popular actors like Samridhii Shukla, Shruti Ulfat, Manthan Sethia, Rohit Purohit, Anita Raj, and Garvita Sadhwani among others.
